Homeschooling has been around for a long time, but with the rise of the Covid-19 Pandemic, it has quite become the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children get the best of the times – socializing with them as well as learning while at home.
Like every form of education, there are certain things you need to put in place to nail homeschooling. Here are a few:
- SETUP A CLASSROOM:
First and foremost your children have to be aware that the sitting room is no longer the sitting room, but a classroom when they are about to begin learning. This entirely means that you have to create an environment that they can relate to as a classroom, comfortable for learning, and void of all forms of distractions.
- CREATE A SCHEDULE:
Your children must realize that this is a real business and not just a pass time thing. Therefore, you have to create a workable schedule that works for both parties as you teach them and perhaps work at the same time. This helps them stay checked and also focused as they have a sense of what it feels like to be in their traditional classroom setup.
- FIND FUN IN LEARNING:
As a parent, the goal of this activity is to ensure that your children learn as much as they can. However, the essence of this could be lost when you are over-strident. While you want your children to see you as a teacher, you also want to relate to them in a very brain-stimulating way that is effective and fun without ruining the essence of learning.
- USE TEACHING AIDS:
Teaching aids can never get it wrong. Research and set up teaching aids that are attractive, attention-grabbing, and interesting for your children. You might also want to use online aids while teaching your children.
- TAKE HOMES:
Do not never forget that your children are students while in your home school, so they need to have assignments that would be graded, as they would have been done in a brick-and-mortar classroom. This helps your children stay focused and time conscious, as they would have when relating with their classroom teachers.
