Before we share our favorite tips for making nail polish last longer, let’s go all cheesy on you for a second.
A girl without beautiful nails is like a night without stars! The happiest girls always have the prettiest nails! Life is too short to have… You get the drift, right?
So, to ensure that you don’t end up booking a manicure and pedicure session every other day, here are things you need to start doing:
Soften your nails with cuticle oils, not water!
Whatever you do, don’t ever use water to soften your cuticles. All it does is expand your nails and after the water dries out, your nails will shrink and your polish will no longer fit.
While cuticle oils are excellent for moisturizing your nail cuticles, cuticle remover gets rid of dead skin and ensures that your nail polish sits on really healthy skin.
Coat your nail tips with double layers of sticky base coat
Compared to the base of your nails, your nail tips are more fragile and can easily chip off. To avoid this, coat your tips with double layers of stick base coat. Ensure you run the base coat on the free edges of your nails. Every 2 – 3 days, reapply a layer of topcoat to keep your nail paint in place.
Make use of rubber hand gloves when cleaning
The chemicals contained in detergents and cleaning products are not nail polish-friendly. To avoid ruining your manicure, make use of rubber hand gloves when cleaning. Also, use mild soaps in place of hand sanitizer to wash your hands.
Here is a bonus tip: Rather than mix the nail polish by shaking the bottle, roll the bottle in between your palms. This way, the polish will not be infused with air bubbles which could make it chip off faster after applying it.
