TY Bello

When it comes to the world of professional photography in Nigeria, there’s perhaps no name more recognizable than TY Bello. She has been a creative force to be reckoned with, and even at 42, this queen is still waxing stronger.

She has consistently wowed us with her contributions to soulful music, women empowerment, and life coaching – and in typical TY fashion, she still works like “the land is green” wasn’t sung more than Arise o’ compatriots.

Her story, from an ordinary girl to a celebrated photographer and super successful music artist, could be made into a blockbuster movie but beyond that, it is a tremendous journey of a diamond in the rough who came out a strong leading woman. While all of TY Bello’s accomplishments are fabulous, we’ve rounded up some facts that make her a phenomenal woman. And fact: they will make you love her even more.

SHE IS MORE THAN JUST A SURVIVOR….

If you are still breathing and breathing after an abuse, then you are more than a survivor. It takes a lot of strength to function despite such an ugly experience and hardship- and TY has proven she’s a fighter rising above her adversaries.

Sexually abused a child, TY Bello thought herself as ugly, guilty, and not worthy of love. She struggled with low self-esteem for years, finding fault in her looks, and defending her abuser. Until she accepted God and she felt whole again. Today, she is not ashamed of talking about her story, inspiring rape survivors around the world. In 2011, she was involved in a ministry of youth development campaign against rape.

YOU WILL NEVER REGRET STARTING YOUR MORNING WITH HER MESSAGES…

If you’re looking for motivation, simply turn to TY’s social media pages for simple yet insightful messages about God, life, and career. You can never get enough of her principles and spiritual perspectives on everything. One of her motivational quotes is “Life is a journey; there is no one way that works for everybody. I have learned to make my life simple”.

SHE LOVES GOD…..

TY Bello is a lover of God and she is not ashamed to show it. Her spiritual journey started in 1989 when a friend suffering from Leukaemia confessed that although she was dying, she knew she would go to heaven. That experience led her to Christ and she never turned back. Her ministry is reflected in her electrifying gospel music and soul-lifting messages. She once said in an interview with motivational speaker, Lanre Olusola on Beat FM “My quest for God drives me. I want to know who made me-it is about self-discovery.

SHE ISN’T JUST A DREAMER, SHE IS A DOER…..

From her Unilag days of stumbling on a photography book where she first learned the meaning of an aperture to switching to Journalism as an economics graduate, to dropping hit singles like “Greenland”, “Ekundayo”, to her successful photography career as the official photographer of former President Good luck Jonathan and Thisday Fashion magazine, the Ogun state indigene is a woman that puts the “E” in energy. A goal getter we Stan.

HER SUPPORT FOR WOMEN….

It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision. Having struggled in her early years, her path to motherhood, and endometriosis, TY Bello does not fail to share her experience which is a source of inspiration to thousands of women out there. In 2016, she played a catalyst role in transforming Olajumoke Orisaguna, a bread seller into stardom after she photobombs a photoshoot with popstar Tinie Tempah.
