Your business and your brand are two sides of the same coin. Your ability to do well in both areas will be responsible for the level of your growth. A lot of women focus of the business and forget about the branding side of things.
Let’s not take it for granted that you know what branding entails – Branding is a marketing practice in which a company creates a name, symbol or design that is easily identifiable as belonging to a company. This also helps to identify a product and distinguish it from other products and services.
Naturally, the genetic form of a woman makes her warm and receptive. This encourages customer patronage. However, in building businesses and brands that last, we need to go beyond customer services, to creating unique identities that will make our business resonate, top of mind, and first choice for our audience.
How did you choose your business name? A name can determine how people will price your market, and if they want to be associated with it. Also, it has to be something you like, because just like it will be hard to change your own name now, when your business starts succeeding, it will be hard to suddenly change its name, and if it’s not hard, then it will definitely be expensive.
For example names like House of Tara, That Naija Brand Chick, Terrakulture, Bella Naija etc have come to stay, and we associate several positive vibes to the name.
The logo and colours of your business also helps customers to associate a perception to your business, and this perception can affect their buying power. Just imagine if the brand colour of a sanitary pad line is black or a beauty brand with a weird packaging colour. This can totally put off the audience. However, the most important thing to do is to know your customers, and choose brand elements that will appeal to them based on their very own unique and intrinsic nature.
In a nutshell, it is important to create a branding strategy for your business that overtime will help your organisation to be associated with positivity, and easy identification, towards generating profit.
This is not a branding tutorial, but a call to attention for you to do the research on branding, and apply it into building a sustainable business.
