VVF was a focus issues due to recent research and evidence that supports a huge prevalence of this health issues and its resulting impact in northern Nigerian women particularly. Infact research has identified Nigeria as the country with the highest recorded cases of VVF globally. Child marriages, Lack of education coupled with low socio-economic status and powerlessness of these young wives attribute for the prevalence of this condition in Nigeria.
The talk was extremely successful and dissected VVF, its prevention, accessing treatment and the burden that these conditions have on Nigerian women as a whole. At the end of the talk, all the women had so many questions for Dr. Karshima and so many different women booked follow up consultations with him.
